Depth Of Field (DOF)
Depth of field is a part of an image that is in focus and appears sharp so that everything else not in the depth of field will appear out of focus.
Aperture
Referred to as f-stops the aperture is the size of the hole that light can come through on the camera, the larger the f-number the smaller the hole for light to travel through.
F-Numbers
Are numbers refering to the size of the aperture, low numbers equal large aperture size.
Auto Focus
Will allow the automatic focusing on an object without the user having to adjust settings.
Auto Exposure
Exposure is the total amount of light allowed into the camera to expose the film, some cameras can configure this automatically.
Exposure Bracketing
Exposure bracketing is when the photographer chooses to take some pictures that are of a slightly lower and slightly higher exposure from a given exposure.
Aperture Priority
Aperture priority is where the photographer sets the aperture and the camera auto selects the shutter speed to match.
Shutter Priority
As with aperture priority, with shutter priority the photographer will select the shutter speed and the camera with select the optimum aperture.
Hand Held Light Meters
A hand held device use to measure the amount of light, sometime referred to as a proper exposure.
