A2 English Literature Coursework
As well as the communication and culture coursework I have the title and subject for English Lit as well now. We can focus on any book but since I’ve tended to read for enjoyment and not really been obsessed with a book I’m going for one we’ve been studying in class. Wuthering Heights has plenty in it regarding Marxism, Feminism and power struggles as it is, so I think it’s good place to start, it’ll also stand me well for the exam. I realise it isn’t all that creative but it does fit the assessment objectives and I am familiar with the book, plot, narrative and characters.
Focusing on the social aspects of power, I’ve made my own title and will follow the struggles between Heathcliff, Hindley and Edgar and bring in a feminism approach too with regards to Catherine. I don’t want to lose the focus and go into the aspects of Nelly’s character too much but definitely point out that I’ve chosen the three male characters in the novel because that is where the power is.
This is another part of the course I’m really looking forward too and as with the communications coursework hope to have a working draft for the return in the new year.
