The way our culture frames narrative is essentially ideological “Framing Expectation” “Narratives are used as ways of interpreting and structuring everyday life, and can take on a very powerful function in validating the events in peoples lives. An example of the validating power of narratives is the way in which heterosexual romance myth is used in some cultural groups is measure of a women’s ’success’ in life; those women whose lives don’t match the narrative may be judged or even judged themselves (in some sense) ‘failures’.
