The Death Of Innocence

Innocence is Dead, Long Live Innocence …

I’m quite amazed at how much work and how many notes I’ve taken in this second week. Things seemed to have slotted into place now and all that is left for me is the organisation of notes and time. I’m going to be spending the weekend typing it seems and arranging my time so that during the week I can get notes typed up, revision and work done so that I stay in front, which by the way, for me is somewhat unusual. I’ve spent the week looking at the things I’m doing with an outward perspective, looking towards University, course content, how I’ll produce work and it really has been amazing. I didn’t even realise this straight away so I know that now things have passed, my last poem is openly looking forward and although it still contains similar content to what I would usually write it is definitely forward looking.

My first real thought was in English today, reading through Frankenstein when Mary Shelly awakens Elizabeth to the horrors of man when her friend Justine is accused of murdering (her) brother, the Gothic tones and lack of support Justine receives shows Elizabeth that others will not defend her and she sees the apathy of people around her that want to convict someone for the crime regardless of the facts, of course in this case Shelley is highlighting the feminist struggle of the 19th century. Perhaps I should take the Marxist view? Still that to me still seems somewhat out of date.
