Amazing Start
I had comms today, it’s my only lesson on a Monday and we started to look at advertising and how shops try to get people to part with their money. Interesting to see that people are quite savvy when it come to shopping and generally know about the effects the soft music in the supermarket is suppose to have. We looked at how the layout of stores is designed to persuade people in and get them to stay. A good instance I thought was that record shops place the low priced high impact items very close to the door seemingly to entice people in from the street. Once in, there are a number of thing going on to keep people there, including placing high value items that people would take time over at the rear of the shop to gain maximum impact from them walking through every other item on the way.
I think this is still in the introductory stages because we went on to talk about the zoo and Safari parks, I couldn’t see the reasoning behind this but happily went along, it could become clear shortly and may have some relevance to a story in the news at the moment about a case of E.Coli, nasty stuff.
