Narrative Perpective
As the focus of English at the moment is Pride and Prejudice I’ll stick with Jane Austen on this.
Essentially, Pride & Prejudice is written in third person omniscience, that is you would read ‘he said, they did, Mrs Bennet was,’ and in omniscience we learn about the some of the characters thoughts. Basically the fly on the wall perspective. Jane Austen, and other writers or course, has also written from others perspective, such as at the opening ball where Darcy is considered to be a ‘fine figure of a man’. This is the general perspective of the other gentlemen in the room as Darcy entered the ball and been noticed.
We also have the voices, when characters are familiar with each other and they share there secrets we glean insight into their character. This also adds to the narrative perspective, as we generally see the story from the protagonists point of view. In this instance, Elizabeth Bennet.
